What do two Catholic men who believe in God and love the Church sound like when they have a conversation? Listen to ‘”A New York Catholic Conversation” to hear for yourself. For several years every Thursday morning, Frank Alagia and Deacon John Catalano would have breakfast after the 7am Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and they would talk about things they cared about; the daily Gospel message, the Sacraments, Holy Days, forgiveness, and any number of topics of interest to Catholic people. Both men are deeply committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church and to a sacramental life with Christ, and they want their loved ones to know that this life is available to everyone! They are not scholars but they are passionate about their faith, and they engage in a lively, brief exchange every week about all things Catholic. They have a beautiful faith and a true love, and they want you to have it as well. Join Frank and Deacon John each week and see if their Conversation makes sense for you. Our Lord says, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides."

TRUST IN GOD. We’re told that unless we turn, and become like children, we cannot enter the kingdom of God. But in our daily thoughts and prayers, do we really trust, and place everything in God’s hands?

COMPASSION. Compassion is empathy in action, and Our Lord provides us with great examples of it to follow. But it can be a challenging virtue to develop and maintain.

Truth vs Relevance
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
TRUTH VS RELEVANCE. There are not multiple versions of Truth. Even if our beliefs are not accepted, we are called to follow the revealed truth, and distinguish it from versions of truth that are diluted to make it relevant to the current times. No, it’s not easy. He said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life"! Although we ourselves are sinful, let us try to be witnesses to the truth revealed to us by God.

Wednesday Mar 23, 2022
THE FORGOTTEN TABERNACLE. Catholics believe that the Risen Christ is present in the world today – in the Eucharist at the Mass and in the Tabernacle in the Church. And if we truly believe it, then we are called and compelled to reverently return to the Tabernacle on our knees, in silence, in meditation, and in prayerful adoration.

PARENTS OF THE SAINTS. The lives of Saints in many cases provide us with inspiration and examples of holiness for our own lives. But Saints are not born; they are raised and called by God. And their parents' lives offer us some unique illustrations of how God works through us, for His own greater Glory.

GROWING DURING LENT. We’re in motion during Lent. With a desire to return and draw closer to God, we avoid things that keep us from Him. Through prayer and self-denial, we begin again to align ourselves with the suffering Christ, who we can now more eagerly follow to the Cross, and beyond.
